Industries or companies that typically employ civil engineers include the big engineering/construction/architectural firms such as CH2M Hill, Bechtel Corp. and Arup; environmental specialists like Meliora Environmental Design; rail and ground transportation groups such as CSX Corp.; power generators such as Southern Co.; even big retail chains like Kroger Co.
